The Cabinet will meet throughout 2022 to advise CTKG Makhi throughout his term, discuss how they can support CTKG Makhi’s campaign platform in their own communities, and collaborate with each other as they accomplish their own three-point platforms.Ĭonnecticut’s Kid Governor® (CTKG) is a national award-winning statewide civics program for 5th graders created by the Connecticut Democracy Center in 2015.Įach candidate for CT Kid Governor created a campaign video (below) outlining why they wanted to be Connecticut’s Kid Governor what leadership qualities they have what community issue is important to them and why and a three-point plan outlining ways for Connecticut 5th graders to make a difference around that issue.įifth grade students in registered classes watched these videos carefully and used the Analyzing Campaign Videos and Speeches worksheet to study the candidates’ platforms and inform their vote during the Statewide Election. The winner of the race for CT Kid Governor was announced November 17, 2020: Makhi Ettienne-Modeste of Windsor was elected by the state’s fifth graders to serve as the 2022 Connecticut’s Kid Governor! The Mission of Nathan Hale School is to support the development of responsible, life long learners by providing a comprehensive educational community dedicated to nurturing individual strengths, differentiating instruction, integrating technology, honoring diversity and encouraging model citizenship. As one of the finalists, Elizabeth will serve on the Cabinet and attend monthly meetings at The Old State House in the Kid Governor office. We are excited to announce that a Hartford Public Schools 5th grade student, Elizabeth Becker, a student at Noah Webster MicroSociety Magnet School, was selected as finalist for CT Kid Governor 2022.

In April, current sixth and seventh graders will be able to opt in or out of the arts house by way of a survey from counselors. One house will deliver core content using key theater strategies and by integrating the various art forms. Two houses will offer traditional instruction which delivers core content primarily through visual and auditory experiences. NHMS is proud to offer a choice of traditional instruction and arts integrated instruction for the 2021-2022 school year for our students.
